Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM (PT)
This workshop will present an overview of the six core processes of ACT. Each process will be discussed and illustrated with example interventions that could be adapted for individual or group therapy. The processes will be presented in an order that allows participants to distinguish between them while also getting a sense of how they relate to each other. Attendees will walk away from this workshop with a general understanding of the ACT model and a variety of new methods to incorporate into their practices for helping clients to be more mindful and values-directed.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
This workshop is designed for practitioners new to the ACT model and also for
those with some experience with ACT who are trying to assimilate the full model
into their work. No previous experience with ACT is necessary, although some
familiarity will likely be helpful. The workshop will be participatory, in that
it will involve collaborative demonstrations of the treatment, and only mildly
experiential.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will be familiar with:
1. the six core processes underlying the ACT model.
2. simple interventions for each of the six processes.
3. a sensible means of organizing the sequence of these interventions.
